The 'Newcastle History Blog' is all about, er, Newcastle's history. Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, that is. It is where I was born and grew up, though I now live in nearby Winlaton (just over the river!). 'The Toon' is, of course, the best town/city in the world, the history of which is now my full-time hobby (having recently retired). I like to read, research and write about the past of both Newcastle and the wider North-East of England, and the books I churn out are offered for sale via Amazon in both softback and e-book form - with all profits going to the Great North Children's Hospital. So get buying! (well, apart from England's First Football Captain, the profits from which I keep).
If you have any news about Newcastle's history, or any useful websites, book recommendations, etc., to report, then do get in touch at micksouthwick @ blueyonder.co.uk (without the gaps).
BTW, as of Spring 2023 I have donated over £600 to my charity - thanks, of course, to those of you who have purchased my books.
