About / Charity

The 'Newcastle History Blog' is all about, er, Newcastle's history. Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, that is. It is where I was born and grew up, though I now live in nearby Winlaton (just over the river!). 'The Toon' is, of course, the best town/city in the world, the history of which is now my full-time hobby (having recently retired). I like to read, research and write about the past of both Newcastle and the wider North-East of England, and the books I churn out are offered for sale via Amazon in both softback and e-book form - with all profits going to the Great North Children's Hospital. So get buying! (well, apart from England's First Football Captain and the Genealogy book to the right, the profits from which I keep).

If you have any news about Newcastle's history, or any useful websites, book recommendations, etc., to report, then do get in touch at micksouthwick @ blueyonder.co.uk (without the gaps).

BTW, as of Summer 2024 I have donated £850 to my charity - thanks, of course, to those of you who have purchased my books.
